Sorry to go back a few days, but I am just catching up.

Two comments about Unitof1's postings:

26/07/2009 EH have not 'sold off' Bolingbroke Castle (Lincs.)check their website if you do not believe me

27/07/2009 ?75 for a DBA, which is quote 'nothing to do with archaeology'!!!!!

He does however miss a good point about evaluations, these can vary in size enormously, and is it really helpful for a Government document to quote ?7500 as an average price?

Sorry folks, did you miss me, have been up to my eyeballs in clients and rain and only three days to do everything, also the local planning authority have started charging for anything to do with planning like pre-application consultation so it should not be long before talking to the archaeological officers assistances will involve an invoice (chargeing for the use of the smr is almost back). < AUP Edit>

?7500 for an evaluation is a meaningless how big is a piece of string statement as are all the prices mentioned in eherr. I work on day rates and boiled down to a person called an archaeologist, sorry but anybody who works on a price hopefully should go to the wall, (< AUP Edit&gt. < AUP Edit>

DBAs are for consultants, they are used to tell field archaeologists where they cant evaluate. It might be unfortunate but in my dislike of doing a dba and wanting to evaluate <AUP edit>

Doing local work is good, for the best archaeological reasons, working in units is < AUP Edit>.
