It takes a long legged woman, to satisfy my soul" trad. anon.

"The other night I laid sleeping
And I woke from a terrible dream
So I caught up my pal Jack Daniel's
And his partner Jimmy Beam
And we drank alone, yeah

Yeah, you know when I drink alone

I was once working on site with several people. Everyone was digging away whilst a childrens party took place in the village hall immediately adjacent to the site. Then we heard the sound of clinking hammers follwed by the words Hi Ho. Surely the seven dwarfs sing one of the great digging anthems.

Once worked with a girl who was notorious for carrying a joke too far.Someone once rearanged the chorus to Desmond Deckers "The Israelites" to "Ooooooh Ooh Theodolite"!.
Which, admittedly, was funny for about 2 minutes.
After an entire afternoon of her repeating this, the supervisor had to judiciously remove her to the wet sieving area before Terrible Things happened to her!B)

Surely Going Underground by the Jam has to be up here -
"some people might say life is in a rut,
but I'm happy with what I got.....
Also have noticed a high frequency of New Model Army t-shirts adorning the chests of archaeologists - I know that the lead singer used to be one, but dunno if they have any appropriate songs!
