Great minds think alike.
I was wondering about
a) where..... Bradford? YOrk...? Does anyone have any contacts to find a location?
b) how many? 100 50...?
c)sessions.
I would be a happy to do one on the "Future of the PAST" - have we lost sight of our purpose?
September?
what about . community and archaeology? detecting and archaeology? pay and conditions, employment? health and safety?

Didnt really want to reply unless i was gonna offer a paper. However, Troll and BAJR this would potentially be really good and important.
Trolls post on 'consultants and all that': something about the different strands of the profession and its current organisation would be very good. All of the IFA stuff that has been done on this is very economic 'facts and figures' led and doesnt really spell out what this actually means on the ground. You Could get an old lag to start it off e.g. 'when i was living in a tent in the 1960's' and then go forward chronologically to the situation now. There was an Interpreting Stratigraphy conference in York, 2001, that touched on stuff like this, although it was more organisation of fieldwork (e.g. democratisation and post-Hodder stuff) but I dont think its seen the light of day.
Would the Invisible diggers/ diggers forum do something?

like it.....
I was thinking of a one day conference and radical... in as much as this is not sitting about in a dark room boring each other.... (well not much!!) but giving a talk.... having serious discussions and working on a strategy to implement the discussion....

well, I'll do something on the state of burial archaeology and research in the UK (and abroad if you like, and boy could I go on and on about that), new ethical guidelines from EH/CoE/Home Office, guidelines on treatment of burials from Christian burial grounds. Not been out for longer than a few months and already experiencing problems with their interpretation. What do you think?
