Nothing gives me more peasure than a good hard days graft!
I'm the guy that always volunteers for the backfill!
I'll dig all day, don't care where, as long as its not snowing!
Oh and its nice if your supervisor( he knows who he is) joins in!

Always found lead by example. I love nothing more than tackling the deepest ditch/pit.
There will always be one character who refuses to move up to anything other snail pace.. One such indiviual started working as a digger for a county unit. On one of my sites i had to continually had to reprimand them for reading Pornography on the site loo :face-confused:. On other sites he was taken to task by other POs for lewid comments to female members of staff. How was the problem dealt with by de management [?] Promotion to PO .... Whether this was because the individual concerned was/is a close friend of a PM??
If in doubt promote them out of harms way.....

Well, any decent supervisor should be able to spot the lazy people and move them to work under more direct supervision, with plenty of butt-kicking.
Having spotted them, it's hard to get rid of them as far as that particular site is concerned; however, short contracts in archaeology do have that one advantage, as long as you make the problem known further up the chain.

to let, fully furnished
If only it were that simple... a PO of my acquaintance just tried to deal with someone not pulling their weight, only for said digger to complain to unit manager, who promptly took said PO off the project. Seem fair to you?

Certainly not.... though one would hope that Unit Manager would not do such a thing purely on the basis of a single digger saying... this bloke said 'you are not pulling your weight'
If you wish I can (off list) check up and find out more about this
if you want... give me an email...

Hopefully the matter is being dealt with internally - rest assured if there are still problems in the next few days I'll email you the gory details. :face-confused:
