Nope, nope and.....nope.Not very practical. Not only that, a certain academic sported one of those when directing a student training excavation. The man was a gonk. The holster simply said "gonk". I wager they would go down a storm in the states.....

why stop at holsters? imagine a full utility belt [8D] tool boxes would become a thing of the past

haha ok fair points all round! But maybe the practical benefits outweight the "gonkness"?

would just get in the way. A holder would imply that you are not actually using the trowel most of the time. Back pockets will suffice for the small amount of time that said trowel is not in your hand...

i can see the advantages but personally it would take me so long to actually fasten the trowel safely back into its holster that i would have forgotten what i was diggin in the first place! [8D] and this would do away with all embarassing/amusing accident book entries - perforated backside with sharp brand new 4" trowel etc [:0] but i have known a couple of people who have had then so there must be a market out there - a nicely crafted trowel holder, the perfect archaeological anniversary/retirement gift/keepsake!

Is this some kind of fashion statement? I await the first appearance on Time Team of said garment.
The next thing you know archaeologists will be wearing comercially made belts to hold their trousers up rather than the artfully recycled length of baler twine.
