We are seeking a suitably qualified, resourceful and imaginative researcher for a 3 month study to explore historical sources and to identify potential ways that the anniversary might be marked.
Supervision will be provided by Professor Steve Hindle of Warwick University who will be a member of the steering group.
Key tasks will include the preparation of a report, and contact with community groups, schools and young people to start planning activities to celebrate the quatercentenary of the uprising.
This post is available immediately in order to ensure that a report will be produced by September.
Newton Rebels is a community based history association dedicated to commemorating the 400th anniversary of the 1607 Newton Rebellion, when 40-50 peasants were massacred in a tiny village in Northamptonshire by landowners in the culmination of the Midlands Revolt. There is currently no record of the event or memorial to those killed.
