I am so appreciative for all this...
before I complete the editorial I will post it on here to both check veracity and to ensure it reflects BAJR rather than just my own views.

Three key points to make:
- proper consultation and investigation early on reduces the developer's risk of unexpected costs and delays, which can be substantial
- watching briefs are very risky for the developer, especially in relation to programme; if the need can be avoided through earlier work, risk is reduced
- even if earlier work does not avoid the need for a WB, it can still greatly reduce the risks associated with a WB

Tim Howard and I are liasing to ensure we don't duplicate or contradict.. he is stressing training and CPDs.
Do people have any views on benefits to construction - benefits for supporting a trianed workforce.. essential guidance ??
Will have to post off final doc on Thursday... but will have a draft ready for Wednesday.

How about something on the fact that archeaologists are doing a very similar job to the other site workers and (most) won't be looking down their noses at them due to possible differences in educational attainment. We are in fact well used to being treated much worse that construction staff with respect to facilities and H&S and certainly don't feel superior in any way. Any visit to a new site entails a good amount of public relations work to ensure a good working relationship that could be better spent on dealing with the archaeology. It would be good for the editorial to destroy a few of those lingering old stereotypes.
