So, after a rather disturbing few weeks digging for a rather disturbing/disturbed director, fiancee and I did a runner and decided to don the tourist hat and visit some sites.Kition was one of those sites high on the list for a number of reasons.Primarily for us, Kition according to plans and maps appeared to be an extant Greek City State. Not something one stumbles across every day.So, off we trekked in search of said site clearly marked on a museum map/plan.As it turns out, the authorities have chosen to conserve a couple of miserably interpreted "temples" and one ship-slipway.The actual site of the City Kingdom as clearly marked on the map is now a number of hideous apartment blocks. This WAS one of only a handful of sites on the island of Cyprus where the 1300BC Greek watershed could be demonstrated and it no longer exists.Instead, the temple site has been proudly adorned with signage announcing "Ancient Kition". On this basis, perhaps we should utterly remove/destroy the entire city of York, save the Minster and adorn it with a sign announcing "this is the City of York". Since when is a temple and a slipway a city kingdom? Sad to say the very least. This sounds a bit like one of those compromises a British consultancy might make......

Oh, go jump in the lake - I thought we had given up on this kind of gratuitous, pointless and irrelevant insult to a whole group of professionals.

Yet another perfect example of just why we will never get anywhere.Huge egos can be so easily damaged leading to an utter rejection of the real issues at stake.Sad place this, used to be a place where issues could be discussed in the open.Sad to see that it has deteriorated into such child-like rebuttal to what was clearly meant as a bit of a joke.Forget it guys. Please un-subscribe me from the forum altogether.:face-confused:

didn't come across as a joke, more an axe-grinding snipe (now there's a creature you'd pay to see on Springwatch).
and no, I am not a consultant
but then you won't be reading this, so I'll stop now

How very childish. If you want to go off and sulk, Troll, because your bitterness of the profession causes you to make 'jokes' about what a bunch of 'cowboys' you think we all are, then go right ahead. You won't be missed. Nothing will change until people like you with huge chips on their shoulder change their attitudes. Grow up.
But as you've requested to unsubscribe you won't be reading this, will you?

I think itâs more of a shame that the original point of the bulk of the post has been swamped. I think that the balance of preservation in a city with the length of history of Kition wouldâve been an interesting subject to debate.
