The issue involving the Hessian I found enlightening, and the comments from the SCC spokeswoman. Made me chuckle.

A bit annoying that someone would used the story BAJR posted as an excuse to make a personal attack. Not on.

Yup... nothing much to worry about... just a sad bloke who from time to time tries to sow dissent.. and has an un-healthy obsession with me... ! I tend to ignore him. He got peeved when I found him out for his rather unpleasant ways.

I am guessing that the description 'hessian' is journalistic shorthand for the a recommended form of geo-textile.....

I assume so, the story/article refers to acid free material and not to an 18th C German regiment, would make for an awefully crowded grave.

Now, THAT genuinely made me laugh out loud!
And yes, always sad when the archaeology/archaeologists get caught up in local politics (though I do remember a theory lecture once where they claimed that all archaeology is politics, but I digress) and used with an ulterior motive.
Has this been chased up with the PCC now?

Sorting through an archive of old brain cells, I can remember my induction by Bruce Trigger (A History of Archaeological Thought) to the manipulation of "culture"...

Does anyone know where to get hessian from? Couldn't get any for love nor money before Xmas. BAJR also needs to be careful with the pseudo-forensics, it is irrelevant who pulled the tarp back, the leaves in the grave count for nothing as does any attempted interpretation of their presence. The leaves could have been under the tarp and protected from snow, or as also happens leaves can be preserved under heavy snowfall and start blowing around again when the snow melts. If someone sent a screenshot of BAJR's accusations to the Holles-Perkes it could lead to legal repercussions.
