Can I just add one thing...there has been some recent publicity about 'interns' - in various professions - working for nothing to try and get a foot in the door so to speak to their chosen career path. A number of tribunals have indicated that interns should receive at least the equivalent of the minimum wage whilst undertaking such duties. It seems to me, with all of your other disbarments i.e unable to claim dole, unable to claim student grant or loan, that you too must also be in an 'employed' situation and therefore entitled to at least the minimum wage for your efforts. You need to get real legal advice here either through the legal services side of the SU or through the Citizens Advice Bureau. Don't just take the word of whatever student just happens to be in the SU office on the day.....
