After nearly 4 weeks of searching, searching, searching I have finally tracked down that great Australia safety/fashion icon:
The Hi-Vis String Vest (or as the modern Australian would prefer it called 'the microfibre singlet or chesty').....

I rather like the second image showing boy models working in a brewery.... Anyway these can be obtained through mail order from these people:

The price: $A16 (circa ?7.50)

Oh I wish I had the body still to carry this off....
In reply to Digger, someone asked in another BAJR discussion before Christmas if anyone could find the Hi Vis String Vest and I believe David has been trying to track these down for the Past Pleasures tool site. My own personal interest is based upon asking Aussie road mending crews where they buy their workgear (which here in Surfers Paradise gets me some funny looks....funnier than my accent alone deserves!!)

If planning to wear on singular summer day in UK beware of H&S policies about wearing full length or half sleeves, collars and at least three buttons etc etc......

Skin cancer issues and also traps and scratches.
you have to wear full arms (non hi vis) on alot of places now
not to mention full length trousers
its the same principle as gloves

Here's to make you doubly jealous then Digger.
Just spent the evening sitting out next to the Broadwater eating fish and chips and drinking Tooheys Old. And you know what, at one point the temperature might just have dropped a tad below 25 degrees....
