I love the use of "inverted commas."
I presume that's the chamber pot he's holding . . . very small . . .Psalm 23:5, 'My cup runneth over.' ?

Nice to see some accurate reporting that gets to the heart of the archeaology and the sense of excitement on your typical dig. That is one tasty chamber pot it would grace any serious collection

Makes my last large bit of fieldwork (which coincidentally also involved a chamber pot and C18th flowerbeds, garden bench etc as 'star finds') look quite good, thanks those guys! :face-approve:

Gardens archaeology is fascinating (seem to be getting far more than my fair share at the moment). Research on the development of flower pots is in its early stages but they do change over time and can sometimes be used for dating. Paths and their associated drainage systems are also very interesting. On top of that is the history and development of changing fashions in pleasure gardens and productive gardens. As for hot houses and greenhouse without the technologies developed for them we would not have sky scrapers. :face-approve:

As a person plodding through a pineapple house report just now (I will finish!!!) I can only agree. however, I suspect this garden feature will be a 50s patio
with or without gnomes ... teee hee!
I don't even think they even managed to get the name right either. !

On a serious note. this kind of highlights the need to "manage" ( note inappropriate use of inverted commas) the press. Provide them with press releases, images etc as they are just not able to do it.
I am tempted to create the BAJR awards ( for this year) based on poor reporting , bad reporting, incomprehensible reporting and of course the photographic category including - "holding" the "pot" (damn.. it is those pesky inverted commas again) Holding the trowel on a cleaned surface/wall while maintaining a rictus grin and of course the Headline category. Digging Deep, Dig It, Archolegist finds old stuff. what do you think.
