Shame Cartoon Reality is on holiday as I am sure he could illustrate the ultimate "well dressed and stylish archaeologist" What is wrong with bow ties? Is PPs avatar a reflection of what he/she/it considers stylish. And to counter any personal attacks I am at the bottom of the list when it comes to urbane, witty, well dressed and stylish, but I do occasionally scrub up well for that special occasion:face-kiss:

I worked on a job many moons ago where several members of the workforce, plus the director, appeared unable to function without being properly attired at all times with a cravat. That the kind of thing you're thinking of?
Bet you can get fully PPE-conforming high vis cravats these days after that revelation a while back concerning the high-vis kilts....

I don't know about cravats but I have often pondered the idea of having a hi-vis three-piece made for site visits. I think it might clash with my
consultant's headgear.

I've always wanted one of those black hard-hats but they won't buy me one, more expensive cos higher spec (presumably head-honchos are deemed less expendable than the oiks) :face-crying:
Did a job couple of years ago where one of the subbies turned up with their guys kitted out in those American-style metal hard-hats, all shiny chrome - cool! :face-approve:

Sounds like your CAT scanner is about as useless as ours (although 100% on harmless CCTV cabling for some reason)...

:0 Naughty Dinosaur!!!! the chemicals in marker pens, glue on stcickers etc can break down the plastic in those hard hats weakening them. I got my knuckles seriously rapped for writting on a helmet. Oil is a no no as well.
Of course someone might have been pulling my leg but I suspect not.

I've always assumed this was a bit of an urban myth, perhaps propagated by H&S suppliers. If stickers are so bad for them, why do they put them on to show you have taken the site induction course? If stickers are so dangerous why do they given them away in magazines for kids. Sounds ridiculous.
I'm never sure about the notion that you should only keep hard hats for a certain amount time and replace them after even a small knock. I don't honestly know if any of this stuff is genuine or just old wives' tales.
