Now this does of course bring up the serious discussion of display of human remains... one that perhaps has yet to be fully discussed. There is already an understanding of the poor taste in displaying the remains of peoples that have living descendants... but how far back do we go before our macabre fascination kicks in.. the mummies of Egypt? Otzi the Iceman? The charnal chapels of Europe?
My main concern at this is the quote from "King Arthur"
According to Mr Pendragon, the bones were the remains of members of the "royal line" or "priest caste" who could have been the "founding fathers of this great nation".
He and other druids ( ahem) claim they 'know' about these people, what they want and what the rituals were that placed them there. This I find dubious in extreme...
But... what do you think?

interestingly... EH state..
Quote:"As such, we believe they have a rightful place in the exhibition and their presentation, treatment and storage will follow strict guidelines set out by the UK government's Department of Culture, Media and Sport."
hmmm... given the "issues" with burial licences... that we have seen in recent threads... I would love to see that solid legal guidance.

In this country, druids......and any other organised religion.....should have no special rights to tell people what to do.
We live in a democracy, apparently, decisions from elected representatives please. Not loonies.
In my opinion...that is.

Otherwise.......
'I am the Grand High Director of this protectorate of the Great Kree Empire. Those remains
may be the cremated remains of my forebears who stood in defense of this planet against the rampaging reetoo rebels some 5000 years ago. The monument that you call stonehenge is in fact a foundation, built by your ancestors, to support the ground to orbit defense platform that the Kree installed, but later removed after the war. As it has ever been our custom to display the remains of our honoured dead for all to pay their respects, I demand that all the 'cremations' be displayed in your grandest museums at once!'
And I bet I could get a petition with more names on it supporting my claims than theirs!}

The same is going on for Richard III with 'relatives' claiming they knew what he wanted 600 years after his demise!

it would be much easier to refute these nutters if we first got rid of the nutters in the house of lords
If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about answers

There are many arguments for and against the display of human remains. In recent years many museums have been looking very closely at this and there are ways of presenting human remains to the public with respect and dignity. On the whole I am for this not least because in our society death is such a strong taboo. We need to encounter the dead to remove the fear. I don't want a minority group telling me what can and cannot be done with my ancestors. I would sign Jack's petition : All hail the Grand High Director and may the Great Kree Empire Last until the end of time

Don't encourage him! This is the man who tried to credit the Super Mario Brothers and the England footie team (!!??!!) in the same publication paper....(although someone's dog got left in as a trade-off, to be fair)...now we'll have to check all his output for 'Kree'... :face-crying:

Yup, bring the proper Lords back, letting retired politicians in was never going to work :face-approve:
