Are there any more details? Is this due to a cut in funding or because of a lack of funded work. And what happens to the fort at South Shields?

Hi
I can't find any information on this closure on the web. Has it been announced by T & W or do you have an inside source?

I'd imagine Tyne and Wear Museums will continue to run it, must be one of their money-spinners with tourists despite the circuitous sign-posting (2mins max from Metro, or 10-15 if you follow the more picturesque route the signs follow...)
