And why does it have to be so bleedin' hot? This is supposed to be British summer, not actually sunny!! Thought I was going to short out the camera, the sweat was pouring out my lid so fast!
But you know what? This is still better than a) no job, and b) any job I've had before. Does that make me a bit odd? Please be careful how you answer that, I'm a sensitive soul...

Thanks Wax. Not sure I'd be presumptuous enough to call myself an archaeologist yet, but think I may have found my vocation at long last. This may of course change once this initial joy has passed...

End of week 1: You realise you have the bug when it starts raining and you use your coat to cover the paperwork, not yourself. First enjoyable week at work for many a long year. Long live archaeology!

End of week 1 part 2: You realise the week has taken it's toll when your hope for some overtime at the weekend turns to utter relief when told there isn't any.
