The More than Minima campaign has begun. Asking not for minimum rates of pay, but for companies and organisations to strive for a rate that exceeds the minima. In recognition of any advert that pays significantly above the minima as a starting rate (rather than a range) the advert will be flagged with this badge and you can use the other image to show your support.

What about a top dog badge for the company that pays the best and a portaloo badge for the company that pays the least ?

.....but we all know which company pays best just like we all know which company pays the least.....the point (and it has been made many times before on this forum) is that pay isn't everything. You can get paid well above the IfA/BAJR minimum working in London for example, but end up living in a cardboard box cos you can't afford even the cheapest rented hovel.....Full admiration for David's campaign, but we shouldn't always assume that the size of your wage packet is the be all and end all of a good life.......

Pay and conditions taken into consideration pay and conditions
Anyways...

the campaign spreads...
and it needs positive action...
London is one place... other locations in the UK are available. BUT for a transitory staff member... pay AND conditions is important as Kevin rightly points out

Hi All
Hope this is on vaguely topic. Is anybody aware of IFA data on RAO's that employ people who have to claim a reduced members fee (i.e. they are paid less than the expected wage for their membership level)? I ask because I seem to remember that after removing the requirement on RAOs to pay IFA minima they said that this practice would trigger an RAO audit. So presumably they are monitoring it?

We should be very careful here. The IfA reduced rate is based on your TOTAL annual income. That doesn't mean that an employer you work for, for say 3 months or 6 months or even 9 months is paying less than the annual membership fee, only that your TOTAL earnings for the year are less than the IfA minima. If IfA say they are monitoring this, I am sure they are....and at the moment it is less than a year since the policy change....
