I'd prefer 'Institute of Archaeologists'. As I believe I posted on another thread, someone else I know suggested that Institute for Archaeologists sounds like an asylym......
(although as the same person pointed out, get 2 MAs and change it to Member of the Institute of Archaeologists and you get MA MA MIA...)
But better either that anything with 'historic environment'!

Problem with Institute of Archaeologists is the similarity to the numerous Institutes of Archaeology (UCL, Oxford etc). We have a bad enough time trying to convince developers that we are professionals not students as it is. This will hardly help!

I would, but it's not my material! [:p]
Gog, yes I agree that it sounds like some of the other Institutes for Archaeology. Perhaps that's the grand plan?

Amalgamate them without them noticing?
I wonder if this name change will go through? I still haven't decided how I (or rather my proxy) is going to vote..... :face-thinks:

Bit late I know but voted anyway. Have been avoiding this thread in order to avoid the usual torrent of apologists. I voted "dont care" simply because I feel this is an accurate reflection of the IFA ideology and lo..... I find that most voters chose this option too!!! Obviously for their own reasons but, I`m currently chuckling like a four year old and doin a dance on me chair. Frankly, call them what you like...except George.:face-approve:
