Just snapped my KRAFSE on a roman villa and am basically lost without it. Have had it welded twice before but I gave the villa a good whack and I don't think the welds will line up well enough to save it.

If you find somewhere in the UK that'll supply 'em could you stick the details on here? I know a few people who'd be interested [not me though, my ability with the beast extends to leaving evenly-spaced pairs of grooves all over the site :face-crying:]

Biggest trouble is the import... You can't buy em in teh UK and I have talked with Fiskers who make them in Norway... they would sell, but only at retail price... and then you have import duty. A fellow BAJRite found this to their cost.
I actually have one that I rarely use.
It is a short handled one, but then I guess you may have the handle already.
I could see about cost of mailing it.
but it cost me quite a bit...

In Norway basic price for a long handled krafser is about £65....postage will be £31 and VAT £13. Import duty (probably about the same as VAT) will also be circa £13....I make that a total of £122....UK may also charge VAT as Norway is not in the EU.....so think about another £20 on top of that...I am guessing £150. Surely you can find a handle in the UK for cheaper than that....

I have found a slightly cheaper source....a Swedish archaeology tools website. Will supply a krafse ('Norgehacka' in Swedish) for 512SEK+660SEK postage....no import duties or extra VAT as Sweden is an EU country......1172SEK = £100.28....probably the best deal you will get....

I told a Swedish friend about the 'arkeologibutiken' site selling krafse. She sympathises with Brits who want to buy a krafse, but says it is equally impossible to buy a mattock in Sweden. Maybe David you could contact the Swedish site and suggest a swop 'Mattocks for Krafser'......
