in the wilderness years, (you'll remember them as the ones where not many jobs were posted and many more got sacked off), the only archaeologists (sic) to turn a significant profit were the specialist consultants. they were very good at driving down prices by insisting, on behalf of their clients no doubt, that lowest price won, not quality, not the best interests of the industry and certainly not the staff on the bottom rungs. millions they made - i tell you..........

How interesting that you know all this and are able to produce this information without one shred of data to back it up. My email is still empty of your proof. .

I also remember them as times when the work I did was lean... I am an archaeologist you know... in fact am in the field just now.. literally. I do remember these times and I do remember what I did to help.
You on the other hand seemed to gather evidence for use now... please do email me this :face-approve::face-approve:

proof - you want proof?
in the words of the nobel laureate - all the truth in the world adds up to one big lie
and in the words of many archaeologists - the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence

I was rung up last Friday to evaluate 1.3 hectors of a site ending with the name "Hall" for a report to take to the council committee meeting next Tuesday. I said I would give it a shot. On Monday in an Eastly wind and subject to relentless rain and working at around 3metres OD with no pump as promised I opened up 20 metres of trench with articulated animal bone and a surprising number of medieval jug handles (my favourites) going all the way down to 1.6m. During periods of extreme rain I managed to get my site assistants to wash most of the pot. Come the end of the day I was told to off hire my staff and was invited to leave the finds in a lock up. The next day I discovered the lock up findless as they had been taken by one of the landowners agents to show the landowner. The landowner and agents then became unavailable apparently until next week. I have composed and sent off my invoice but await to learn my hard luck lesson.

well... actually yes. when you make wild accusations.. I do love to see the proof. No Proof... == made up hearsay.

In that case I can make up any old bllks and say it... so sadly... without any shred of evidence... without anything other than you plaintive cries and quotes... I have to say... based on teh available evidence... um... You are making it all up... Now I am interested why this is? Were you deserted by a consultant when a young pup? Did you apply for a job and get rejected for being too tall? The way you talk - you would make a perfect consultant. Ready to make up stuff... and divert questions. So.. my dear PP ... let it go. and tell us something lovely you have done recently

uh oh Mr Berger ... sounds like you have a live one... --- be prepared for the battle. However. No report still means you have a bargaining chip.
