I too had not heard the plough/adze thing before.
Would it be awful to admit that I thought ?200 was quite a bargain?

Yes.
I have had bits of an ard turn up and the 'spike' for scratching the soil was wood, no trace of any flint. More inaccurate BBC reporting.

I'll give you a piece of silver if you can sing 'Over the hills and far away'.

Beautiful Danish flint axes, daggers and sickles come to mind. The really good flint was mined.

Of course there is flint in Denmark, but
geologically Denmark is not part of the Scandinavian peninusla. Instead it is part of
Ferro-Scandia which covers a much wider area. Which I imagine Lars Tharp would probably know....

You learn something new every day...I didn't do Geography O-level...
However, I believe European archaeologists often use the generic 'Scandinavian Neolithic flint axe' for those exquisite and typologically distinct axes made in Denmark and Sweden. For example...

Crikey, a quick search shows that there are three levels of being geo-politically 'Scandinavian'...

Is Ferro-Scandia the same as Fenno-Scandia?

Fenno-scandia it is.
It is and my head wasn't screwed on yesterday. I also typed 'position' in another message when I meant to say 'possession'.
I remember Oliver Sachs describing this mis-word association in one of his books (the one about the man the wife and the hat). Maybe I am going down with something....
