Working through it all... and most intersting it is too.
Seems like it is passing most tests.. though some bits do need tightening..

ditching the videos and putting menu at the top is definitely a good plan....annoying me too.......

Right... we are getting there... and I hope to have a better site for it. I have just checked for impaired visual access with a verbal screen reader..
seems to be working well. I think there is room for more improvement. and we are open to making it so.

Am ploughing on through the snags..
If Dan is listening, he may want to reconsider the alt tags for the images
for example the photos at the top... the alt and title tags are non descriptive..
so for example a photo that says "British Archaeological Awards 2006" actually shows "Mick Aston with 'someone else', 'looking somewhere', while at the British Archaeological Awards 2006" etc..
or the "Surveying at Wharram, East Yorkshire. University of York" shows "University of York students and staff in a large stubble field beneath a cloudy sky doing surveying at Wharram, East Yorkshire"
Not sure if that is still a requirement for photographic description. but something to think about, as visually impaired people would make little sense of the image description in most cases. Will be going through mine as well. as you have quite rightly flagged up an issue... and perhaps both the CBA and BAJR websites should be as good as they can be.

Afternoon. I have emailed a couple of screen shots showing how the web page around the forum looks on my computer. I have now discovered that I cannot use any of the menus at the top of the page, apart from the first option in a couple of the places. I am pretty sure this is our terrible work computer system.

I seem to be having much the same trouble. The menu appears on mouseover, but then disappears when I mouse onto an option...
"alt" tags used to be descriptive because early browsers had options to turn off graphics for faster surfing (anyone remember Lynx?). I would have thought that it would have been more important to have descriptive alt tags for menu GIFS, otherwise navigation is a nightmare. I'm sure visually impared people appreciate image description: have you ever watched a DVD with the 'Audio Description' option selected; it adds a spoken word description of the scene onto the soundtrack, which sometimes has to go really fast to keep up with the action...

Only by ripping its heart out...!
Now believe it or not... I am working on a further version, where the scripts are kept to almost zero... thus no problems for anyone! (haH! tht'll be right ) I have taken on a lot of what has been said.. and stripping it to the basics... getting rid of dropdowns... no fancy mouseovers... etc....
By god.. I can do it..
I will soon have a sample section ready.. and would like it to be tested by those that had trouble before...
I worked out taht it should take about 4 days... after all. I have already done the hard bits... ie collecting the info and collating it...
over 2000 links!!

I take it that there have been problems with the forum? yesterday and today (till just now) every time I tried clicking on interaction, the page would flash up and then dissapear again!

I can't be arsed to wade through 6 pages.
Mr BAJR - new BAJR layout is great. I have firefox (for what it's worth) and all works fine.
Congrats to you and yours for the work put in to keep the site upadted and new all the time.
