As soon as you call it a vocation, people will expect you to work for free. I agree though, it si very hard to give up.

Its a job like any other - if you work at it you will get somewhere - just dont compare it to other professions - its too depressing, compare yourself to other archaeologists
but it is getting better
(cooky sits under table awaiting wash of moans from the irate diggers)

Do you mean it in the Roman Catholic sense of a calling from God? I knew there must be some higher reason as to why I have put up with this foolishness for so long! Maybe I should reassess my irreligiousness...
