British Archaeological Jobs & Resources (BAJR) Federation Forum
Terms and Conditions

IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THE CODE OF CONDUCT THEN YOU CANNOT PARTICIPATE ON THIS FORUM.

1. Your rights and responsibilities as a contributor to the BAJR forum

As a contributor you are bound by these T & C.

Personal data
Your details are protected under the Data Protection Act, and will not be passed onto a third party. You can change or amend these at any time via the your profile link. I would prefer that Real Names are used rather than Nicknames.

Posted material
You are solely responsible for what you write. This forum is backed up on a daily basis, and can therefore material can be recovered if libel, slander of defamation of character has occurred. You must therefore think carefully before you write.

2. Acceptable behaviour*
Acceptable behaviour should be instilled in all of us; however, recent events on this forum, have realised the need for a set of forum rules. The nature of "Online communities" can have unfortunate consequences in how the written word is construed. As visual and auditory clues are missing, one needs to be more aware of how our written words might be understood by others. It is also the case that writing in this electronic medium can often lead to * hasty* words and/or comments that would not normally be aired in a non-virtual context.

3. The Rules

* Take care with humour that might work verbally but could lead to upset when rendered on screen. Please remember that tone can be misconstrued due to the limitations of e-media.

Monitoring
* Report any transgressions to the administrator by Private Message or via email.
* Please be aware that it may take a while to answer your complaint. This Forum is not administered on a full time basis. If the Administrator is on leave, a nominated employee of the Scheme will assume the role.

* The Administrator or Moderator will always advise you why they have moved, amended or deleted your post.
* Deletion of a post is a last resort.
* Banning of a user is also deemed a last resort and will be carried out only after 2 prior warnings have been given and ignored.

Complaints procedure
If you, as a member of the Forum, or the general public feels that these conditions have been breached, then the following procedure should be followed.
1) Contact the Administrator * info@bajr.org
2) Outline the nature of your complaint, stating clearly which post, by which member and on which thread.
3) The complaint will be reviewed and action to be taken will be discussed with both parties.

This is the only way that an appeal will be heard.

Banning of members
When and if anyone is banned, then a public notice will be placed on the Forum with the reasons given for the ban.

BAJR is not responsible for posts placed by members of this forum. They are not necessarily the viewpoint of BAJR. However in cases where defamation, slander or liable is suspected, BAJR will (as soon as it has been detected) remove the offending post as quickly as possible, without personally accepting responsibility for the post itself and will issue a written warning to the member.
