Many people out there will have met and worked with Jon Hiller, and will be sorry to hear that Jon died during the night of Friday 30th - Saturday 31st July. Jon joined Oxford Archaeology in the 80s and worked for the company for more than 20 years. In recent times he had been struggling with illness and depression but the news of his death still comes as a terrible shock.
Jon was witty, hard-working, passionate about archaeology (and cricket) and altogether a great friend and colleague. We miss him.
I will post details of any funeral arrangements when I have them.

Jon's funeral will be at Oxford Crematorium on Tuesday 10th August at 2.15pm. Jon's wife Sharon would like people attending the funeral to dress in whatever way they feel appropriate, ie in black or not, as you wish.

Is there any fund or charity that a donation could be made by those that cannot attend?

If anyone would like to make a donation in memory of Jon, the nominated charity will be Cancer Research. There will be a collection at the funeral and details of how to donate separately will also be available on tuesday. I will post them on here,

I am shocked and saddened to hear the news, Dave, and my thoughts are with Jon's family and friends.

Donations can be made in memory of Jon Hiller to Cancer Research, a charity Jon had supported since the death of his first wife Alison from cancer in 2003. Cheques made payable to Cancer Research should be sent to Co-operative Funeral Services, 2 Hendred Rd, Oxford, OX4 2ED - include a note saying it's in memory of Jon or write on the back of the cheque,
