had a weird phonecall from the BBC today while working on my own project at Cousland.. we have a 15th century Castle.. they wanted contact details of an "expert on Stonehenge" .. er... right!
Anyway... sorted them out... and if you follow the link above, you can keep up to date with the project..
Timewatch archaeologists are carrying out the first dig for almost half a century inside the stone circle of the world's most famous Neolithic monument.
Their aim is to unearth evidence for a startling new theory - that Stonehenge was built to heal the sick.
Check this site regularly for video updates and breaking news.

List of UK Archaeology Departments enquiry |

Damn the changing clocks, this feels like an ungodly hour!
Right, just a quick query. I know BAJR holds details of UK University Archaeology Departments, but is there any way I can get hold of a list of all their e-mails (maybe on an e-mail?) so that I can just send a circular e-mail to them all. This is to advertise a student excavation opportunity to them. Obviously otherwise Im going to have to trawl through the lot of them.
If BAJR cant help, can anyone else? Just PM me for my new (!) e-mail address.
Love ya,
Gumbo

New Map based Specialist Search System |

Given the loss of CVs Online. BAJR has come up with a new system... one that will be slightly more 'useful' than before.
Map based, it will show specialists in areas from lithics to pottery geophysics to dendro, and metal detecting groups and individuals available to help archaeology projects. I have just under a hundred sign ups so far.. and the full public map will be launched in May/June.
basically, you need a specilaist - go to the map - click the type you need and the map will show all available, so you can even pick one that is close.
To add yourself just now..
go here:
http://www.bajr.org/gmap/specadd.asp
zoom in, drag the marker to your approx location - name, email short details ... simple as that.

Does anyone know where on the web i can find out about the reconstruction that has been going on at ancient Babylon? All i can find mention of is either the huge fortress palace that was built in the nineties,or a web page hinting that the UN might move there!and there was me thinking it was an ancient ruin!
