County post in Northants |

What's the scoop wtih the county job advertised? My memory is admittedly a bit fuzzy, but wasn't it just a few months ago that the service there was dissolved and curatorial advice kind of lost? Has there been a change of heart? Is this legal?
Any clarification appreciated.
All the best

Working Tax Credit; earning under £16,000 pa? |

I was just wondering if many archaeologist out there have realised that they are entitled to 'Working Tax Credit'?
I am on c.£16,000 pa and have been on tax credit for 6 months, it comes in very handy; I get just under £200 a month, just for being on a low wage, and working more than 30 hours a week. It helps with the bills (like most; more going out than coming in)
I have told quite a few people about working tax credit and to date non of them have applied for it, yet all of them mown about there low wage, yet they appear to be able to turn there nose's up at the prospect of a couple of hundred pound from the benefits agency!
Just thought there may be many archaeologist unaware of this avalible benifit to them!

Tell people about your research - and win up to £1500!
The sixth Awards for the Presentation of Heritage Research will take place this year at the British Association's Festival of Science in York from 10-14 September 2007. Three awards will be offered: a first prize of £1500, a second prize of £500 and an under-30 prize of £500.
The purpose of this award is to encourage presentation of recent British and Irish archaeological, historic buildings and heritage conservation research to a wider audience. It is vital for the future of the historic environment that we do more to present and explain our work to the wider public, to increase their understanding and enjoyment and the value they place on our heritage.
Entrants are asked to submit a written summary of their presentation by 4 May 2007. Shortlisted finalists will be invited to speak at the awards session at the Festival of Science on Thursday 13 September 2007. The judges will place particular weight on the clarity of presentation to an informed but non-specialist audience, and on the interest and quality of the underlying research.
The Awards are sponsored by the Royal Archaeological Institute, English Heritage, Cadw, Historic Scotland, the Environment and Heritage Service (an agency within DOE(NI), and the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government (Republic of Ireland).
For further information, an entry form, and information about past winners, see:

Bajr conference 2007 |

After the BAJR 2006 conference everybody agreed there should be 2007 conference and the suggested topic was standards.
As David is very busy and achieving so much who else would be willing to help with the organisation of such an event if David wants to host such an event.
I think last years format and date were just right.
It is less than six months to go if the conference is going to be at the same time of the year.
