might be worth restarting the old league table of units-give praise where due but may also be good resource for curators wanting an inside view into the units on their lists.......any praises for units/curators/consultants anyone?

raising standards |

As it appears that commercial archaeology is still doomed to be on the wrong end of the "compromise", its about time we saw the industry in a different light. If we are to be embedded in a capitalist environment where cheap (and often destructive) units win the day, surely the way to raise standards would be to tender on the basis of quality-not on the basis of a reputation for compromise.Effective legislation would be nice... people in the job have brought standards up over and over again in the past. Those that set standards and recommend professionals on those standards, should police them.Effectively.Top to bottom, curators, consultancies, directors and diggers.

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could advise on where i could find archaeological work abroad. I am looking at doing some backpacking around the world and would like to do some digging as i travelled. I'm not interested in field schools or the like, more voluntry or paid work. I'm at the very early stages of planning so am interested in hearing about any web sites that may advertise such oppertunities or if anyone knows of any other avenues to search, or indeed of any work!

Does anyone know where I can buy Permatrace (Waterproof draughting film) .... in Australia? Preferably New South Wales and not too far from Newcastle or Sydney. [Phew! It's hot over here just now. Time for a cold beer on the beach. (Sorry, couldn't resist). But Christmas is a very different experience over here, isn't it!?].
Thanks in [u]hopeful</u> anticipation! [:p][8D]:face-approve:[:I][8D]
