  I don't care any more!!!!!!!!!!!!

The new BAJR poll is looking at reasons why there is a lethargy or lack of motivation in archaeology in the field.

after the 99th dull watching brief or even worse... finding archaeology and then finding the management have underbid to win the site... and hey.... no money is actually left to dig the site... let alone the time.......... sounds familiar?

The poll can't really delve into your real feelings on this... but here you can.. what is happening and what can be done.

This is a place to grumble... but also come up with ideas that can work to make everyone get back into caring about teh arcaheolgoy.... or perhaps I am just plain wrong? tell me

  XMas Redundancies
Posted by: Dirtytrowel - 29th November 2004, 08:28 PM - Forum: The Site Hut - Replies (9)

Hello,

It seems pretty commonplace amongst a lot of units to lay off their staff over the christmas holiday and then re-hire in the New Year. Sound familiar? It might happen to a lot of us, but it shouldn't happen to any of us. New legislation has been introduced specifically to stop this kind of thing happening to temprary workers, which includes many archaeologists working on short term contracts (or no contracts).

If you are laid off or are going to be laid of the christmas then let us know by posting a reply or sending me an email!

Thanks for listening!

No doubt a very dumb question, but does anyone know where we could get photo scales - 0.5m and smaller - and north arrows, without having to resort to making them?! [:o)]

  Devon Job

I noticed that the Devon Archaeologist Job is advertised again. Is it my imagination or is this job comming up about every 4 months? Is this the same Job or a rapidly expanding Dept?

  Irish Directors license.
Posted by: tom - 16th October 2004, 08:31 PM - Forum: The Site Hut - Replies (1)

Hi there all under payed people,
I would like to apply for directors license in Ireland but with the dimise of Ducas Im not really sure how to go about it. I would be very grateful if someone could but me in the right direction of who to contact. Also I note that a lot of people have been put off going to Ireland because aparently if your not Irish you are or were made to jump through to many hoops by Ducas who discrimnated against UK archaelogists. I had also read that story in the diggerof a guy who had gone to Ireland with the promise of directorship only to be shafted and hung out to dry by Ducas and the unit. So before I move over an try could someone english or irish help or advise.

Cheers

Tom

Posted by: BAJR Host - 15th October 2004, 02:40 PM - Forum: The Site Hut - Replies (1)

BAJR was invited to attent the meeting of teh IFA Diggeres Group in London this saturday (sadly I was unable to go... mainly due to the fact that transport from <s>outer mongolia</s>... sorry scotland... to london in almost immpossible!!)

However... there is real action going on here and inclusion... results from this initial meeting will be posted on BAJR and reported in the Digger I hope. This is something worth supporting.....

  Collection of Evidence
Posted by: BAJR Host - 15th October 2004, 02:36 PM - Forum: The Site Hut - Replies (1)

BAJR has been in constant contact with the IFA who are ready to act on the accusations made in the Digger... on the collection of enough evidence .... if you have anything that may be of use.... photgraphs, sites, names dates, letters.. etc.... please make them avaialble... the IFA contact details are online in the Whos Who section under National Organisations.

If the IFA are to suceed this time... we all have to work together.

Well done to the brave individual who came forward and also to teh Digger for placing this with the IFA... worthy of a British Archaeology Award !!!!Wink

Send to the Digger, BAJR or the IFA direct... but do not hold out on us...

If only half the things mentioned to BAJR are true...:face-confused: ... I am seriously disappointed and will take my own action as wellSad
