Lieutenant Milo Minderbinder Volunteers - 1man1desk - 18th January 2008 Posted by Unit of 1: Quote:quote:If an archaeologist demanded payment for treasure found on their excavation (using a metal detector or not) could the archaeologist be prosecuted under the Act An individual archaeologist could not demand payment for treasure found on a properly-constituted excavation unless they first stole the object - so they would probably be prosecuted for theft, if caught. However, in the hypothetical event that an individual archaeologist or a unit was entitled to be in possession of the treasure tried to claim a reward under the provisions of the Treasure Act, they wouldn't be prosecuted - they would just have their application turned down. 1man1desk to let, fully furnished Volunteers - Oxbeast - 18th January 2008 Quote:quote: Just discussed this point with my wife, and came to the conclusion that an archaeologist is in a way, never off duty - and archaeologist does not stop being an archaeologist at 5pm... <sings>When you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way, from your first cigarette to your last dying day...</sings> Volunteers - BAJR Host - 18th January 2008 <attempts to sing> cough cough.... how... hack... cough.... true <attempts to sing - but ends up sounding like Tom Waits> "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.."
