I love the word for yuppie- "jypling." Must work that into a conversation somehow.

Still think the English one has slightly more punch, starting with cows and ending with sheep.... Been snooping around the continent where it looks all sheep and dogs. Who translates these things? Is it part of a global conspiracy to conform humour? Are the Borg starting gently?

TM needs a job before publishers get inundated with poorly spelt manuscripts containing tales of lost civilisations and unshored trenches in which all the characters are based on people I've worked with. [xx(]

It does come across better in Norwegian I agree.

The Norwegians have a thing about having words in their own language... hence jypling=yuppee. But I must admit... Ive never heard it before.

Jypling is a beautiful word, but doesn't translate very well in this joke.

It means 'a callow youth' or 'stripling' rather than strictly speaking a yuppie. But it is still a beautiful word...

Hence the -ling suffix. As soon as I saw it a downy faced banker sprang to mind. Yup, it's a beautiful word! Am I right in thinking it carries more conoctations than "yngling" Much finer than the next country over which can only manage the wan "kille."
