Ok, after a bit of help on this one. I have a 90% complete Mortaria with twin stamps MAR. The mortaria is possibly an unknown type for the West-Midlands. Has any one out there encountered this particular stamp? Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks BAJR. We've tried the usual sources but seems it has the experts baffled so far. Looks like a possible new locally produced item.

Paul Tyers who created the site linked to above is an extremely approachable expert, as is Dr Kevin Greene at Newcastle University.

Where did your 90% complete mortaria come from? Is it now part of your collection, or an archieve?

From Worcester, Muddy. Not on any archive yet. Currently in the process of quantifying the assemblage. No funding so doing it in my own time, but will take it to publication (grey lit). The Mortaria is only one of a few strange goings on.

can I have some additional information?
What is its fabric, what's its colour (red, white, white surface), what are the grits made from
and what kind of rim does it have?
thanks
