bless ye sir... I know it could have been worded better, I know it could have ... But then we never knew about this persons brave attempt....
Perhaps we could have created a new petition? perhaps.... but we didn't... She did... and I thank her.
and Peter... thanks!

I endorse that. Just to go further, it is much better to have one petition with many signatures (even if the wording is not what each individual would have chosen personally) than a dozen petitions, each with very few signatures, that provide perfect wording (from their author's perspective) but that all get ignored.
Don't create new ones - just sign this one. It will show the government that there is an issue that people care about.

[?]Ok so here goes annonimity. I'm glad to here that people are getting behind the petition, and not really bothered about what i said even if some people don't agree with the wording. My view is as an outsider, i have many friends that are archaeologists and i'm only going on what i have been told. I'm sorry to see some people still moaning and griping over something i did as a gesture. I wanted the government to see that as a body of people you are unhappy with the conditions, whether it be short term contracts constantly or a salary that does not corresspond to your qualifications and experience. I hope this does more than makes the government take notice but also some of you. Hope it goes well and good luck

I strongly disagee about the wording.
It is ill informed and factually incorrect. This is prob the only occassion this decade that the PMs office will consider archaeologists pay.
So far this election all the issues I have been asked about are nothing do with the council concerned. Whenever I answer honestly that this is not something a district council can do people think I am just been evasive.
This petition will get the answer - a major triumph of the labour government has been the introduction of holidays for all and the minimum wage. This is not the response we want.
A better wording should have quoted what APPAG said about pay and conditions. It should also have stated the starting salary of a graduate archaeologist.
I suggest a briefing note from David in due course.

I agree with Peter in this should not be the end... a full briefing note should be prepared to move it forward...
Now once again (and this is something BAJR seems to excel at) we can come up with a real tight document... pithy...well thought out and razor sharp.
Please start a new thread so we can work on it collectively... this can build on this petition.. starting with something like.
"You will now be aware of the strength of feeling shown by the recent petition.... "
