I was just about to comment on the flash Scientology video at the top of this page, 'Looking for something more?' when it disappeared to be replaced by adverts for plastic surgery and Christian singles.
Has any one actually watched one of the scientology video's yet?... Are they going to appear brain washed in the van to site on Tuesday morning? ..."What did you do over the weekend?"... "I became a higher operating Thetian".
I know I originally blamed Unit of 1, for bringing Scientologists onto BAJR, but maybe they have been out there all this time reading our postings, possibly those on the IFA a few weeks back, and sensing the mood have decided that we need their counsel.
From little I understand of it the chronology/ doctrine of Scientology goes something like this;
1. Sci-Fi writer decided to start to start a religion "because that's where the money is" (He was actually quoted as saying that).
2. Converts the plot of his latest airport novel into a church, holding that the world was created by 'higher operating Thetians'. As Tom Cruise is apparently one of these, this means that whilst the Christian Church has God, the Scientology 'church' has ''that bloke from Top Gun".
3. Religious 'services' are lifted from the Catholic confessional, although in deference to late 20th century American consumerism the 'priest'/ Thetian charges each member of the 'congregation' thousands of pounds to hear it.
4. Chef from South Park is one, although I am not sure whether he is a God or not.
If there are any Scientology lawyers out there, I may have mis-remembered some of the above from various news reports I have seen over the years, so please don't sue.
