What is being described sounds like a number of different objects given the range of materials. I assume these objects have been found in Christian burials and hence by definition are going to be unusual. We need more to go on to give sensible responses. This is like playing animal vegetable mineral without seeing the object and the only thing we can rule out is vegetable. A picture however poor is a neccessary thing in this case.
