Strike-a-lights in their recognisable forms kick in around the 14th Century. When it comes to flint knapping, up to 1794, gunflints in the UK were a use and discard affair utilising field-found flint. So-called "prismatic" gunflint production was introduced to Kent (yaay!) first in 1794 before becoming a truly massive industry (see Brandon) until the 1850s when the percussion cap was introduced. Would`nt have a clue what Anglo-Saxon strike-a-lights would look like...would love to know please........
