A "benchmarking" exercise was undertaken recently by a UK university that has its own archaeological contracting unit/service.The results were, well, pointless to be honest.No consistancy across the board and any rises certainly did not justify the term "significant" by any yardstick.In short-if the IFA must provide "minima"-all it has to do is change it.Go on....Do something to stem the tide of experienced archaeologists migrating to grown-up jobs in disgust.You never know, we might actually believe that the IFA values archaeology.
