This thread caused me to look up references for the Thiel soft embalming technique.... very interesting. Basically salt preservation of body tissue using only small quantities of formaldehyde... ..Does this technique have any archaeological parallels that anyone knows of? I am thinking that there might be some salt mine somewhere (maybe Austria where Thiel's technique was developed) where well preserved archaeological remains have been discovered....
