I suppose it is Austin but Prospect have to represent many other members from other work backgrounds. I feel that BAJR has a unique and valued position within British archaeology and could play a central role in representing the profession. You may argue that that is the role the IFA fulfils but I'm not going to hold my breath whilst waiting for that to happen.
Because Prospect represents several sections of the GB workforce it has access to a level of resources through union subscriptions way in excess of anything that BAJR could generate in subscriptions from archaeologists alone.
I agree with 1man, if you change the nature of BAJR from a free to use service into a subscription service then the nature of the beast would be fundamentally altered; not something I want to see happen.
