history/bans repeats its self
http://www.bajrfed.co.uk/showthread.php?...profession
going self employed was happening in the boom times, its not an artefact of the recession and you have been ignoring it from every profile to the next.
I know its called profiling the profession but whats the point of it if its not to change the profile. Asking the same questions can only maintain the same answers and give the same view of a predetermined profile of a profession. This profile of the profession because it is addressed to unit directors should be stopped or if they want to go on with it change its name to something like "Profiling employment" and stop sending the questionaire to self employed archaeologists as under the tax ragime of this country I must at all times be in a state of being self employed or else any potential employer will have to pay employers national insurance contibutions and give me genetrous maternaty leave rights and if I was employing anybody I would not be harping on about being self employed. Haveing said that, a bloody annoying thing about being selfemployed is that the government lumps you in with small and medium business and expects you at every oppertunity to employ people which is the last bloody thing that I want to do. Ah thats the reason I get asked to fill the thing in, ifa imagine all self employed archaeologists to be a SMB rather than the model of a professional archaeologist and at any point they expect me to start employing people and turn into a unit director and then become an RAO.
Ps I have never fillled one in and I imagine that the ifa -the public servant centre of 1970s archaeology- still have skin on their noses, love to see their accounts.
