Probably not at the time of the year that these projects are proposed (May-September).
You will probably get the midnight sun if you are in the north of Alaska but not in the south. Alaska's southern limit is at latitude 54 degrees which is about the same as York I think. I guarantee what you will get (if the parallel latitudes of Scandinavia are a good guide) is a hell of lot of biting insects.....for 10-12 hours a day.
