Exploitation? This scheme is more like slavery!!
The government is proposing that firms can take on graduates as 'interns' for 3 months and pay them the equivalant of the current student subsistence grant (c£3000 per year). The government is also proposing to offer subsidies to firms of £2500 per head. At the end of the 3 months it is hoped that firms will continue to employ the graudate at the normal 'graduate' going rate. But of course the scheme doesn't guarantee a job......
Apart from blowing away the proncipal of the minimum wage, can anyone really see any graduate taking on such a crap proposal.....
