history/bans repeats its self

going self employed was happening in the boom times, its not an artefact of the recession and you have been ignoring it from every profile to the next.
I know its called profiling the profession but whats the point of it if its not to change the profile. Asking the same questions can only maintain the same answers and give the same view of a predetermined profile of a profession. This profile of the profession because it is addressed to unit directors should be stopped or if they want to go on with it change its name to something like "Profiling employment" and stop sending the questionaire to self employed archaeologists as under the tax ragime of this country I must at all times be in a state of being self employed or else any potential employer will have to pay employers national insurance contibutions and give me genetrous maternaty leave rights and if I was employing anybody I would not be harping on about being self employed. Haveing said that, a bloody annoying thing about being selfemployed is that the government lumps you in with small and medium business and expects you at every oppertunity to employ people which is the last bloody thing that I want to do. Ah thats the reason I get asked to fill the thing in, ifa imagine all self employed archaeologists to be a SMB rather than the model of a professional archaeologist and at any point they expect me to start employing people and turn into a unit director and then become an RAO.
Ps I have never fillled one in and I imagine that the ifa -the public servant centre of 1970s archaeology- still have skin on their noses, love to see their accounts.

isn't that the economic model in which we live?
capitalism is the snake that eats its own tail; even if you decide, as a snake, that really you'd rather go veggie...
you can't really complain unless you're going to do something to change society.
(& voting UKIP isn't
really doing something to change society, for those of you out there who might be persuaded that getting rid of the social chapter is the way forward... as our glorious leader is presently trying to do...)

I am not complaining. I think that a lot of archaeologists went selfemployed because that was the only way to side step waiting to fill deadman shoes of unit and public service working practices. We are doing the changing society so far as it goes in the miniscule archaeological world. Although it would be nice if a few more of the big units inploded now. Soory to those who might loss their subsidised jobs but the majority of the time I am self unemployed-another question that profiling the proffesional might like to ask in its survey.
What ever political party I just see them as the mouth pieces of the public services, ukip included. In the public services they exchange copyright/royalties for pensions.
Another area that profiling the unit directors should ask is what structure they use to dodge Corporation tax because thats what a lot of thoses so called professional archaeological structures are doing. They are up there with gobble and starkbucks and in fact have been doing it for longer.

bck2 topic.....
nothing personal Doug (whoever you are)...
re: LANDWARD RESEARCHh. = shambles.
backward compatibility as the overriding design factor in a survey of changing real world is frankly retarded.
will future generations thank you for you data? (can you do it with a rock?)
TRY; Four distinct steps;
look at the real world - collect pertinent real-world data - present actual data openly- finally, make comparisons with legacy data as you see fit.

Dr A has shown himself to be a very passionate supporter of contract-tender/free-market archaeology in the past. I wonder if the contract to put this survey together was put out to tender?

Cool, now that the trolls have shown their true purpose, personal vendetta against Kenny, I think I will bid adieu from this hijacked thread.
As always, those who has serious concerns about PP please PM me. Kevin and others thanks always for the thoughtful comments (yes, even you unit). I will try my best to make sure something gets done with them.

i did not even know KA was involved with Landward until 5mins before i made the post....!
now that i know, i - and perhaps others - are rightly curious............this is legitimate.
i certainly have not hijacked this thread - i am annoyed at ineffective survey, and want something better...i even made some suggestions that you never responded to.
