"the map just shows how much is going on across England and Wales .. nice"
It certainly does. There are also four events in Northern Ireland and five events in Scotland. Not many, but then there is (as you rightly say) Scottish Archaeology Month in September, and Archaeology Days in Northern Ireland this month, so some venues may understandably be saving their efforts for these events instead.
There's information about both SAM and Archaeology Days here:

Thanks for the extra info... together the number of projects across the UK is impressive now... it would be good if 'them that are in power' take notice of all these events.. the public interest .. the potential benefits to community and education and start putting some real money and backing to archaeology. Not as a posh hobby, but as one more tool for creating a more inclusive and community minded Britian.! I know the CBA will be pushing this to the government - so who knows.. a bit of good news might help them? on the other hand I can see the 'Daily Mail' frothing response as well... spending money on archaeology when nurses are so badly paid.. etc. I have seen the benefits to a village or town of arhcaeology - with more ownership of history, less vandalism, skills learned, friends made, age groups meeting together etc... and a bit of healthy outside work as well!

Now I appreciate entirely that I have one of the worst computer systems on the planet at work, but the search for events button does not show up. It is possibly just that the web page is just bit too complex for slighly aged computer systems.

Thanks historic building. This seems to be a problem only with Internet Explorer 6. We're working on a solution as we speak...

aaaaaaaaaaaaaarg the curse of IE6 and lower... have the same trouble myself... councils and the like have trouble getting the latest (use firefox I say!!) and also have the added bonus of often being blocked from Googlemaps (less common now) YouTube... Facebook etc....
lets not communicate with the public!

Is it me or is there nothing going on in Scotland? It is the Council for English Archaeology?
