but on a more serious note... have people noted that the DCMS funding shortfall means... well slap me sideways! .... the Stonehenge visitors centre may be shelved...

Oh yes... ten years ago or more Dave McOmish published in Antiquity about a particularly large midden on Salisbury Plain, and a lot of Mike Parker Pearson's work at Durrington is looking at all of this kind of thing. More to with animal bones than human waste, though...

So, are we thinking that the stones were placed to mark the toilets? Would make some sense if people were coming from a long way off and diidn't have the benefit of glasses....

Maybe they needed a
really big marker to guide the way so they didn't get lost whilst staggering tired and emotional from that massive beano at Durrington Walls that Mike Parker-Pearson found a couple of years ago? :face-huh:
