Do you feel that BAJR should play a more active part (and by this I mean you - not just me) in the future of UK archaeology? :face-thinks:

Not quite sure how to vote on this, given the wording of the options.
My view is that the IFA and BAJR both perform important but separate and complementary functions. While I am a strong supporter of both, I do think they should remain separate.
I would hope that each organisation could recognise the value of the other, and while I know that BAJR does recognise the value of IFA and supports it (at least in principle), I am not sure that the same applies the other way round, and that is a criticism I would make of the IFA.
If BAJR wants to expand its role, it has one major obstacle to overcome. BAJR is essentially the initiative of one man, and while it has a lot of grass-roots support it is not recognised as a representative organisation and it has no democratic legitimacy.
To gain widespread recognition by archaeological organisations as a representative body, BAJR would first have to formalise membership and hold elections. That would completely change its character, purpose and ethos, and I am not sure I would want to see that happen.

Its not hard ... :face-confused:
It does look like BAJR has a future ... though... whatever it is, it will have to alter structure to meet it.
As I said at the BAJR Conference (now going up online as we speak - thanks Pat) A Unified approach... a single voice. SO first comes the unified approach... BAJR can't be ignored... but can be a help... to the big boys
IF... IF the big boys will knock some chips off the shoulder. Me I am balanced... a chip on both.!
