Hell, give him an award entitled "For the most accurate portrayal of archaeology in popular media":face-approve:
I think that should be nominated to become an actual award!
You should really give him a wood handled WHS! He sounds like he might know what he's on about

Did you contact him, or was he lurking on the forum? Are there any other comedians lurking out there? Hello, Tommy Cooper?
Perhaps this play could be staged at the next IFA conference, with an all star cast of the great and good.

The older characters would have to be played by relay, there are too many options!

Message from Richard Herring:
Thanks very much for the trowel, which I received today. It is a great honour and I am very chuffed to have received it. Let's hope it gets some use at some point!
Rich
- well... he captured the reality and made us smile!
A well deserved winner of the first BAJR wooden trowelhead award.

Quote:quote:....Excavating Rita is, I think, my most potentially commercial play and it's a shame that nothing happened with it after Edinburgh 1996. Although one drama society did put it on. They were in Scotland too. I obviously strike some kind of nerve with our porridge eating, shortbread crumb covered neighbours. Oh yeah, I certainly understand the Scotch. And the Scotch love everything about me. Especially the way I insist on calling them Scotch. They pretend they don't like it, but they do. How many trowels have I been sent from the other nations of the world? If you add all of the non-Scotch trowels together, they are still outnumbered by the Scotch ones.
But it means a lot to me that professional diggers "dig" my play (do you get it?). And my trowel will take pride of place in my trophy cabinet,....
