Or we could be radical and have a bit more democracy and a little less autocracy-sort of bring archaeology into the 21st century and out of the 19th in regards as to how a lot of units treat their staff!!especially diggers who are too often seen as having no rights!:face-stir:

it up the the air just now
I know for example how some contractors dislike BAJR - one even thought about setting up a rival service [:p] you have to ask WHY? why would you not want to support a person who strives for better pay and conditions for archaeologists .. pushes... for it.. every day. Why would you not support that? I know a unit who are convinced (by their management) that BAJR keeps wages down... :face-huh: and if I was to butt out then wages could increase. - it makes you wonder what is in their tea. :face-huh: A mandate is needed... but not for BAJR.. but for some contractors to shrug off the blinkers - high staff turnover? no more christmas party? no meeting in the pub on friday for a laugh about the week? your own workstation and timeshedules? sites of 3 staff or even one - wheres the communication the discussion there? Bids cut to the bone... ? grinding teeth? stress? a them and us attitude.. a hope this will get away with it feeling?
Its not good for anyone... should we not all wake up and think... I am an archaeologist.. I am lucky to be an archaeologist and I like my work... maybe we need a shake... a damn good shake... and some blue sky thinking maybe just what we need.... anyway I am off to the desert for a month - so plenty blue sky there.. perhaps some revelations too?

Me thinks it will take more than just a good shake,or as I said a while back (funnily enough it was on a friday in the pub) "iff some folks don't get off their high horse-i'll shoot the bl..dy horse"
I suppose its one of those rare jobs where its more of a downhill struggle instead of an uphill one!![xx(]
