Actually I believe the see Naples and die phrase had more to do with outbreaks of cholera, though i prefer the idea that it's to do with the city's beauty! I've never been happer than when in Naples, there's something captivating about the city, trust me though if you think the centre is dangerous you should try visiting some of the suburbs, Mondragone is particularly special!

I found the outskirts and suburbs of Naples almost indistinguishable from Herculaneum!
Sorrento is nicer and you can see Naples and Vesuvius from a safe distance.
