Although i'm not holding my breath I hope things do improve soon,as it is Lincoln lost one of its two units on friday-it had been running for 21 years (I was on their first-and unfortunately its last site),I wonder how many companies this recession will claim before a turn-around?
I fear that there will be alot more
Could BAJR maybe have a page listing the fallen? Proberbly alot more use than the IFA's survey?

Bad news indeed..
I am still hopeful...
A survey is coming out.

Remind me folks.....
Having found out last Friday (that is, Dirty Dave from this forum and I) that our local town unit has folded, what is the present sickness pay / holiday pay entitlement for someone (i.e. me) who might be a "tempoarary site assistant" on a dig, somewhere else in the country...maybe?
Will I find a dig going long-enough, for me to go into the tha"entitlement" criteria?

Worcestershire. Though I think it's keeping current staff busy rather than hiring at this time.

Who's gone down in Lincoln? It can't be against the AUP to give their name as it's simply a matter of (sad) fact. Was it L or N, or even (a bit further) P?

Things are getting busy again north of the border for one commercial company at least, after a long pause last year. Ongoing (not new) infrastructure & renewables mainly, with some social housing.

It was "L".
There is talk of tiny little scraps of work (a few weeks at a time)
supposedly happening in April.
I am "maybe" doing it but depends on who wins the contract
and if the projects go ahead.
There have been various building project cancellations, of late,
so the associated archaeology contracts do not go ahead, either.

There is an internet site where following the demise of a much loved friend/ relative/ pet, 'mourners' are invited to post tributes.
Gushy and slushy, the internet equivalent to a bunch of flowers sellotaped to a lampost.
Maybe BAJR should start such an outlet (and spare us the code-breaking exercise!!)

For those who don't know who 'L' is, Lindsey Archaeological Services.
